The first game does not have the block/parry system the second game has so boss fights are more difficult but it does have a jump/duck mechanic instead as well as a back step then knee kick attack that can stun leaving a wide attack window if you can master it. The bosses of the first game definitely feel more challenging then the second game as only 3 bosses have 2 or more phases in the surge 2 while almost every boss in the surge one had multiple phases (except for the first boss) the surge 1 also had the hardcore weapon kills so read up on those before killing a boss because the V2.0 is definitely worth it (especially the final boss, it’s considered by many the best weapon in the game and has a unique hybrid move set) ![]() The kraken was fun but a walk in the park offers a much nicer story and environment but is split into 2 parts (part 2 unlocks after R&D) and the good the bad and the augmented offers some powerful weapons and implants, some of which have ranged attacks (golden twin blades have a ranged attack in the surge 1 but this ability was removed in the surge 2 as well as them being one of the best twin rigged weapons in the surge 1 in the surge 2 by the time you get them they’re almost useless when you just got codename Valkyrie) The dlc for the first game is so much better then the surge 2 dlc. The atmosphere of the first game is a lot darker and feels so much better then the second game since the first game takes place at ground 0 and the beginning of the nanite plague. The story in the first game isn’t as direct as the second, it’s hidden in audio logs in the various environments.
